World Bodypainting Festival 2014 from Austria Colour and Fantasy on Human Body

Already famous, World Bodypainting Festival was held this year in Austria. The 17th World Bodypainting Festival, at which was attended 47 participants, artists, photographers and models and over 30000 spectators and fans was held between June 26 and July 6, 2014. Besides the fact that unique paintings are shown, the originality of this festival is represented by the idea of ​​an ephemeral thing. All that remains from the work of the artists are just photos and videos. Since 1998 when it was first organized this bodypainting festival, contest has evolved a lot, are increasingly more participants and sympathizers, the awards have grown the same, notoriety given to this huge event at world level. Also, from a festival to another, increased the quality of what resulted from the work of artists who want to express their thoughts, feelings and admiration for the human body and why not by painting it in different colors and by its transformation into a transitory opera.

The theme of the event, now in its 17th edition, this year was Pop Art Several thousands of tourists and residents of the town in Austria that hosted the festival, Portschach, could enjoy the explosion of color and creativity transposed on naked bodies of models.

The competition schedule was very busy and as is customary in a world class competition was divided into several categories, with awards totaling 46,000 dollars.

wbfMain categories of bodypainting competition were:
– the world champion title “World Awards”, also the “European Awards”
– the special category “Special Effects Make-Up Award” and “Creative Make-up”
– the “Amateur Award” in the category Brush/Sponge and open category
– the art prize “WBF Installation Art Award

The biggest awards were to the following artists categories:

Brush / Sponge Bodypainting
1. Place Trophy + € 2.000 in cash + Kryolan Make Up Voucher valued at € 1.000
2. Place Trophy + € 1.000 in cash + Kryolan Make Up Voucher valued at €   700
3. Place Trophy + €    500 in cash + Kryolan Make Up Voucher valued at €   300

Airbrush Bodypainting
1. Place Trophy + € 2.000 in cash + Kryolan Make Up Voucher valued at € 1.000
2. Place Trophy + € 1.000 in cash + Kryolan Make Up Voucher valued at €   700
3. Place Trophy + €    500 in cash + Kryolan Make Up Voucher valued at €   300

Special Effects Bodypainting
1. Place Trophy + € 3.000 in cash + Kryolan Make Up Voucher valued at € 1.000
2. Place Trophy + € 1.500 in cash + Kryolan Make Up Voucher valued at €   700
3. Place Trophy + €    750 in cash + Kryolan Make Up Voucher valued at €   300

During the eight days all the 47 participants worked to show the world a new face of the human body, a transposition of imagination and colors on models body radiating of beauty. Of course there were curiosities, images eccentric, fancy, innovative, or even incomprehensible.

World Bodypainting Festival ended with a paint fight where everyone present participated once before danced and had fun live music of Dj’s who came from London.
