Eni SpA Could Stop Fuel Delivery to Alitalia Due to Debts of over 30 Million Euro

Italian petroleum company “Eni SpA” will not deliver fuel to air carrier “Alitalia”, starting next week if its management and government at Rome not reach an agreement regarding ensuring of continuing airline operations.
“<< Eni SpA >> will not be able to provide credit to a company whose future is not assured”, warned the leadership of “Eni”.
“Alitalia” tries to obtain from shareholders € 100 million to be able to continue operations. “Eni” shareholders will vote on October 14 if they agree to extend financing for the airline company.

“Alitalia” owes 30 million to “Eni” for fuel and the debt grows every day, according to sources cited by Reuters.
“Alitalia” losses have quadrupled in 2012, totaling 280 million euros compared to 69 million in 2011. Company sales have increased, however, by 3.3% in 2012 to 3.59 billion euros.
