True Accusations  or a Marketing Strategy?

The American giant was not late in responding to these allegations in a statement published in Chinese and English on its Chinese website: “We appreciate the efforts of CCTV to educate our customers on a subject that we consider very important. As we said already, Apple never cooperated with any Government in granting any access to its products and services. We have never given any access to any of our servers. It is something we care very much, ” added representatives of the Apple group.

The Group notes that its phones uses GPS geolocation service that allows the user to find the nearest restaurant, check the weather forecast or calculate the time path to the office. “But it is important to note that during this process, Apple does not send any data to be associated with a user device,” said Apple group.

Apple assures that users have more tools to disable geolocation on iPhone.

Director of the Institute for Internet Security from the University for Public Security of the People, Ma Ding told that activating a parameter on a smartphone it is possible to be prosecuted a person and to be collected “highly sensitive data”, which would threaten Chinese national security.

For example, she detailed in this long story aired Friday “if the user is a journalist, reveals the places where he went, the places where he interviewed and can be seen including working areas – political or economic”.

According to Ma Ding, geolocation of millions of iPhone users could enable the collection of information living conditions or a country’s economy, “even state secrets”.
